The Nez Perce Tribe Watershed Division in McCall was recently awarded a Bureau of Reclamation WaterSMART grant to form the Little Salmon River Watershed Collaborative.
This group will discuss ways to improve water quality in the Little Salmon River watershed and hold monthly meetings over the next two years. We hope to engage stakeholders across disciplines and land ownership boundaries to:
Discuss comprehensive issues affecting water quality
Brainstorm potential solutions
Draft a consensus list identifying specific restoration actions intended to improve water quality.
The grant funds will be utilized to hire a professional facilitator and notetaker, rent a meeting room, and develop a website. Although these grant funds cannot be used for on-the-ground restoration, the Tribe’s Watershed Division was recently approved to spend limited funds on restoration identified during this collaborative process.
People, fish, and wildlife will benefit from improved water quality in this watershed.
We hope you will participate in the conversation.
