The next Land Allocation Committee meeting will be Wednesday, February 15 from 7 pm-9 pm.

Improving Recreation and Conservation: What we heard and potential next steps

The meeting will be held in the basement conference room at Idaho First Bank, 475 Deinhard Ln, McCall, ID 83638

Over the last year, we have heard from a number of speakers from the recreation and conservation community regarding current land management designations on the Payette National Forest.

In this next meeting, we will review and summarize key points from previous meetings for the Payette Forest Coalition to review.

We will also draft potential next steps to the Payette Forest Coalition should participants and the Payette Forest Coalition decide to continue this committee. These include the following:

·      Identifying which areas and issues to focus on in the future

·      Developing sideboards to help direct these conversations

·      Defining committee membership so that all interested groups            are represented and meetings are more efficient

·      Reaching out to other user groups and interested parties on              topics we haven’t discussed yet

·      Identifying short and long-term goals

We will submit this summary and a draft work plan to the Payette Forest Coalition for the group to discuss at the March meeting.

The meeting is sponsored by the Payette Forest Coalition (PFC), a collaborative group working to build diverse community support for forest restoration projects on the Payette National Forest.

The PFC formed a Land Allocation Committee to review current land designations, assess what is and is not working, and develop recommendations.

The meeting is open to all members of the public. The PFC has not recommended any changes from the current status.

Everyone is also encouraged to join the PFC meeting scheduled earlier that day at the Payette Forest Supervisor’s office.
