PFC Supports Parks and Rec Grant Request

2017 Idaho Parks and Recreation Grant Program

One of the PFC five goals is to "enhance the road and trail network to support access for resource management, outdoor recreation and public safety". The 2017 Idaho Parks and Recreation Program is a potential source of funding to enhance recreation access to the forest.

We support of the following 2017 Payette National Forest grant requests:
  • Weiser and Council Ranger District purchase of a new snowmobile to manage and implement a Winter recreation program on the Council Ranger District (Forest Service is contributing a 50% match);
  • McCall and New Meadows Ranger District purchase of a new snowmobile for the Payette Avalanche Center to access the backcountry for winter avalanche forecasting (Forest Service is contributing a 50% match);
  • Payette Avalanche Center grant to fund education in the back country and additional forecasting ability; and
  • McCall Ranger District proposal to reroute a portion of the Jackson Creek Trail to a better location, thereby improving soil and watershed conditions.
