Land Allocation Committee Meeting

Please note new date and new location!

Date: Thursday, November 17
Time: 7-8 pm
Location:  Super 8 McCall Conference Room, 303 S. 3rd Street, McCall

Wildlife on the Payette National Forest

Our guest speakers include Regan Berkley, Regional Wildlife Manager for the Idaho Department of Fish and Game’s McCall Regional Office, and Brian Brooks, Executive Director of the Idaho Wildlife Federation.

Regan will be presenting information on the wildlife species that occur on the Payette, including wolverine, bighorn sheep, mountain goat and elk, what we know about the effects of roads on some of these species, and information on hunter preferences for different types of access. Brian will be discussing how Forest Service designations can be tailored to improve wildlife habitat, hunting opportunities and access for sportsmen.

The meeting is sponsored by the Payette Forest Coalition (PFC), a collaborative group working to build diverse community support for forest restoration projects on the Payette National Forest.

The PFC formed a Land Allocation Committee to review current land designations, assess what is and is not working, and develop recommendations. Our group is hosting a series of listening sessions to hear from various stakeholders on their perspectives on land management designations.

The meeting is open to all members of the public. The PFC has not recommended any changes from the current status.

Everyone is also encouraged to join the PFC meeting scheduled for earlier that day at the Payette Forest Supervisor’s office. See the meeting agenda.
