Meeting Reminder

The next Land Allocation Committee meeting will be Wednesday, October 19 from 7-9 pm

Idaho First Bank, 475 Deinhard Ln, McCall, ID 83638

 Snowmobiling and backcountry skiing

At the October 19 meeting we will review the current designations for winter recreation uses, describe lessons learned from the Winter Forum and discuss ways to improve the experiences of both snowmobilers and backcountry skiers as well as other user groups.

Our guest speakers from the snowmobile community include Mark Wood, President of the McCall Snowmobiling Club, Jeff Baker and Dan Krahn. We will also have folks from the backcountry ski community share their perspectives.

The meeting is sponsored by the Payette Forest Coalition (PFC), a collaborative group working to build diverse community support for forest restoration projects on the Payette National Forest.

The PFC formed a Land Allocation Committee to review current land designations, assess what is and is not working, and develop recommendations. Our group is hosting a series of listening sessions to hear from various stakeholders on their perspectives on land management designations.

The meeting is open to all members of the public. The PFC has not recommended any changes from the current status.

Everyone is also encouraged to join the PFC the following day on a field trip to look at vegetation thinning and road and watershed improvements that were recommended by the PFC as part of the Lost Creek Boulder Creek Project. The group will meet at the New Meadows Ranger Station at 9:30 am on Thursday, October 20 and return by 3 pm.
