Agenda for the Field Trip on June 16, 2016 to the Huckleberry Project Area The Forest Service will be presenting limited information, maps, etc. on this trip. This is more of a driving tour with stops to allow for public discussion. Forest Service specialists will be available for dialogue and to answer questions regarding this project and areas of consideration. Purpose of trip: 1) Orient the public and Payette Forest Coalition (PFC) to the opportunities and areas of consideration within the Huckleberry Project. 2) Allow for the public and PFC to explore new opportunities and issues to consider in the planning of the Huckleberry project . When/Where: Meet at the Council Ranger District at 0900 on June 16, 2016. Return to the Council Ranger District by 1600. What to bring: Lunch & water Appropriate field attire (e.g. boots, raincoat, hardhat [if you have one], etc.) Tentative Stops, Timeframes, & Topics 0900: Meet at the Council Ranger District in conference room. Introductions, review of Huckleberry project, purpose of trip and safety info, consolidate into fewer vehicles 0915: load up and drive to Stop 1. 1000: STOP 1 – Road 073/002 Junction (Patrick Schon/Leigh Agan) Discussion topics include: Wildland/Urban Interface project, non-commercial and non-treatment example Potential WUI and non-commercial thinning treatment needs on Huckleberry, treatment types 1045: load up and drive to Stop 2 1115: STOP 2 – Ladder Creek Road 105 / Road 106 Junction (Jason Greenway) Lunch from 1145-1200 Discussion topics include: Demonstration of EDNA sampling 1200: load up and drive to Stop 3 1230: STOP 3 – Smith Mountain (Paul Klasner) Discussion topics include: White-Bark Pine treatment opportunities, potentially stop just north of 112/105/145 junction on the 112 road and look at two PVG 6 stands. 1330: Load up and drive to Stop 4 1400: STOP 4 – Unauthorized Road 5011 22000 (Leigh Bailey) Discussion topics include: Example of non-system roads Discussion of the issues Wrap up and Summary/Critique of day 1500: Load up and return to Council Ranger Station.
