In the spring of 2012, following the annual conference, IFRP initiated a process to track the forest restoration projects supported by Idaho's collaborative groups. The objective is to provide a single state wide source of projects and key restoration metrics that capture the scale and pace of collaborative efforts to restore Idaho's forests.
This summer, we decided it was time for an audit - to ensure the accuracy of the project list. Thanks to the constructive review by a contact from each collaborative group, the results are captured in a report entitled Restoration Projects June 2021, posted in the IFRP Report Library.
Over the past nine years, the number of collaborative groups has grown to eleven, engaging in 80 projects on the seven National Forests. And feedback during the audit let us know that at least five more projects are in early stages of development with scoping announcements anticipated prior to year end. We look forward to adding new project initiatives and following their progress through the NEPA environmental review.
