Fourth Quarter Report, 2014

Boise Forest Coalition completed their recommendations to the Forest Service regarding the High Valley Integrated Restoration Project (HVIRP).

KVRI: The Forest Service finalized environmental assessments for two projects, Twenty Mile and Kreist Creek.  The line officer signed a Record of Decision for both projects. No objections were filed.

Lemhi County Forest Restoration Group:  The final EIS and draft Record of Decision were announced for the Upper North Fork Project.

Payette Forest Coalition:  The Forest Supervisor signed the final Record of Decision for the Lost Creek-Boulder Creek Project.  Two of the four organizations that filed objections notified the forest that they will pursue a legal challenge to the final decision.

Congratulations to the collaborators and ID Teams on their progress.  Supporting documents are posted in the State of the Forest Archive.

Communities of Place
The Intermountain Region (4) initiated a series of listening sessions in October 2013 in nine locations across the region.  The purpose was "to better understand the different perspectives and ideas communities have for improving engagement" with the Forest Service.  Both external stakeholders and Forest Service employees participated.

The report, Communities of Place,  summarizes findings and general themes from the discussions, and identifies three areas of priority for action:
  • Organizational culture
  • Strategic communications
  • Leadership
