Navigating NEPA

The Payette National Forest's Lost Creek-Boulder Creek Landscape Restoration Project progressed this quarter under the objection review process. Four organizations filed objections during the review period for the draft Record of Decision. The Forest Service convened a conference call on June 20th with the objectors.  Topics discussed included data quality, the status of the draft Wildlife Conservation Strategy amendments to the Forest Plan, management of riparian conservation areas, and the role of public involvement in the Travel Analysis Process.

This is the first landscape scale restoration project on the Payette NF to be administered under the pre-decision objection process.  A review of the objections is underway by a Forest Service Region 4 Team.  A letter from the Regional Team to the Forest Supervisor is anticipated by August 6th.

The objections filed are available in the State of the Forest archive on the IFRP website.  IFRP will continue to track the progress of this and other projects as Idaho collaborative groups navigate NEPA.
