Governor Submits Treatment Areas
During the 2014 IFRP Workshop, Idaho Department of Lands described the 2014 Farm Bill amendments to the Healthy Forest Restoration Act.  The amendments include the designation of treatment areas on National Forests to address insect and disease risk.

The National Forests and Idaho's collaborative groups met a March deadline to propose treatment areas to the Governor's staff.  On April 1st, Governor Otter submitted Idaho's request to the Secretary of Agriculture.  The Governor's cover letter and the detailed presentation book are available on the IFRP Collaborator Forum.

The Lemhi Country Forest Restoration Group provided consensus recommendations for a collaborative project in 2010 on the Salmon-Challis National Forest.  The Upper North Fork HFRA Ecosystem Restoration Project will reduce fuels within the 41,000 acre project area, all within  Lemhi County's designated Wildland Urban Interface.  Restoration actions will also include decommissioning roads and enhancing stream habitat by improving stream crossings.

The Forest Service released the DEIS for public review on March 27th.

The Payette National Forest's Lost Creek-Boulder Creek Landscape Restoration Project also progressed this quarter.  The Payette Forest Coalition is reviewing the FEIS and draft Record of Decision for the 80,000 acre NEPA planning area located within the Weiser-Little Salmon Headwaters CFLRP landscape.  In addition to vegetation treatments that will transition the project area towards the desired condition, the Boulder Creek Watershed condition class will be improved from an "impaired" condition to "functioning at risk". The watershed improvement is a high priority for the PFC due to the presence of ESA listed species: bull trout, chinook salmon and steelhead.

Supporting documents for the above projects are available in the State of the Forest archive on the IFRP website.
