Can Conservationists and the Timber Industry Work Together?
The February 2nd program in Boise will feature two speakers who have spent much of their
careers on the opposite sides of battles over logging on national
forest lands in Idaho. But, Bill Higgins with the Idaho Forest Group
(a major timber company in North Idaho) and John McCarthy with The
Wilderness Society have a story to tell that some may find surprising.
Conservationists, loggers, and community leaders
are finding important areas of agreement on how forests can be managed
to further both economic and ecological goals. Please join us for a
fascinating discussion of collaborative approaches to protecting and
restoring our national forests.
